There are black covers in place of the lower spotlights on my 05 Impreza.

Right here were the lights are in this image:

I presume these are spotlight slots, and not some kind of foglight? Forgive my ignorance.

Where can I buy a set of lights to go in here? (Dublin area, don't mind traveling a bit).
How much work is involved fitting them? (Could I do it myself without specialist tools and equipment? I'm not a mechanic.)
Is there somewhere near Dublin I can buy and get these fitted all at once?
Do the spotlights need to be exactly the right model to fit?
What kind of price range do you think this would be, with and without fitting?

    Thanks in advance.

Totally depends on if there is a wiring loom already in place behind the blanked out panels in the bumper. If so then it might be just a case of buying the fog lights/brackets, having them fitted and fitting a switch on the dashboard.

If there is no wiring loom already present then you are looking a bigger job. Given the amount of fog we normally get annually it might not be cost effective.

Thanks for the reply, can you give me a hint as to what the wiring loom looks like so I can check? It looks kind of empty behind the panels :/
Also it's my understanding that spots and fogs are inherently different, I'd be looking to get spots in.

Those blanking plates are for fog-lights, not for spot-lights. No matter what lights you fit there you will need to protect them as the are vulnerable to stones and gravel thrown up by other vehicles. I used to fit plastic protectors over mine and the covers used to get cracked. There is no switch-gear or loom fitted in the lower spec cars IIRC.

I forgot to say that incorrect position of a fog-lamp, outside 250mm to 800mm from the road, is an NCT failure as is positioning an auxiliary headlamp (spot-light, long-range driving lamp) outside the range 500mm to 1,220mm from the road

    Great advice mathepac, thanks.

I just mocked up this diagram, posting it here incase anyone else finds it useful.

So I guess they are for fog lights then, and as bazz pointed out, not really worth the money. If I wanted to get some new covers for the holes is there anywhere I can look? I don't even know their proper name.
