BMW depreciation

Just browsing 2010 BMW dealer 5 Series. Average asking price seems to be 32k for a 520d. I would expect between 40 and 50% depreciation on a car after 3 years, depending on brand, lower end of the scale on these due to diesel and new model.

As these cars list at 45k on the road, 30% depreciation seems very low. Is there much haggle room on used cars with BMW dealers ?

I think the new model was mid to late 2010 so even though it a 3 year old reg, the cars are most likely nearer 2 years old. Add to this that it is a reasonably sought after model and you arrive at the asking prices.
A bit later in the year, you should see those figures dropping a fair bit.

There are a few F10s just below the €30k mark now but decent 2010 models are thin on the ground and alot are for sale in the BMW dealer network which include the 2 year BMW Assured Used Car Warranty in the higher asking prices. Contrary to popular belief cars don't drop in price the first week of January. Wait until the second quarter of the year and will see them start to drop a bit.

Import from the UK where youll get a better selection but I would wait the 3 years and a bit to allow the market to 'flood' with ex 3 year old cars to reflect a fair price.

    +1

There is an LCI version of the F10 due in the summer so maybe the earlier cars will drop slightly then.

I don't see pricing on these dropping by much if any.

Used car pricing is on the way up not down, and a new model 5 series would be a decent seller.

Are the economic good on UK imports ? I don't see as many people doing it recently.
