    Hi folks,

A quick question. Do Motor tax renewal forms issued to owners of camper vans have pin numbers included so that the tax can be renewed on-line ?

Yes - operates as per car tax arrangements. Handy and simple online renewal - once you have the funds.

You must also have done the doe test and given it to them and got your cert back.

I recently got my form but as I have not done DOE there was no pin nnber on form.
As a matter of interest i presume you cannot tax till DOE is passed.
This means I am driving an untaxed vehicle to DOE centre???

If stopped between where the vehicle is kept and a test center and if you can prove you are on your way to a test which is already booked you should be OK.
Do make sure you have valid insurance though.

I have a 2010 unit and had to renew the tax last Sep... notice came out without a PIN so I called the Motor Tax office. The person who answered said the reason there was no PIN was due to the fact that the camper needed to have the DOE(CRW) done and couldn't be taxed without the DOE cert .. i pointed out that a 2010 unit doesn't need the DOE until it is 4 years old and they said it did..this went on for a while. After checking the new laws on campers and the DOE I rang the Motor Tax office back and the same person answered who said "so glad you called back i checked internally and you are right you don't need it" apparently the office in Shannon don't have the system updated to take into account the age of campers.. so if it's not over years old you dont need to have DOE/CRW done. http://www.rsa.ie/RSA/Your-Vehicle/Your-Vehicle-/Commercial-Vehicle-Testing-/Testing-of-Motor-Caravans-/

Motor tax office emailed me back to say van is on their database as due for DOE and therefore dosent get a PIN for tax renewal.

    Thanks Niloc for help.
