Hi. sorry not sure where to put this, I have point down religion and history in the mater dei as my first choice in the CAO and I was just hoping you could answer some general questions about the college, like what would a normal day be like (finishing time, amount of lectures), is it easy to make friends, what are the exams and teaching practice like is there a lot of pressure with them, what is Orentation and finally what is the student life like?
    Thanks

      Hi!

Mater Dei is a lovely college, very small and personal and very easy to make friends. I was in UCD for 2 years and hated it so much! Too big and impersonal.
      Course workload is very manageable.
Had 3 essays last semester and 3 this year. Had one exam at Christmas and I will have 7 in May.
Teaching practice is in Nov for 2days were you take a 40min class between 5students and are video taped and watch it together and with a supervisor, this is done in the college.
The you go out to a primary school in Jan for 2 weeks and teach three lessons a day, 2 rel and 1 hist. Supervisors visit you twice, once per subject.

Time table is not very heavy at all.

I have attached my semester 2 timetable below for 1st year.

      Hope that helps!

Nope! I haven't been once. It's just there if you would like to go.
Not at all. Loads of people from outside dublin and I know plenty of people just stay over in theirs and head to stuff together.
I'm 24 and live with my boyf so that doesn't really affect me much.
