As title suggests someone wants me to try and retreive information from a laptop hard drive. I am not willing to dismantle my own laptop to plug in it as it's hard drive is not easy to reach and i do not have the time. I have a desktop which i am in the process of fixing. If i get it fixed, is it ok to plug into my desktop via sata cable; will i damage the hard drive as i persume the ampage is different? Or is there is a connector that i can obtain which allows me to connect the hard drive to my working laptop via any com or usb port?

Plugging the laptop hd into your desktop will do just fine.
