Sorry I know this has been done to death but can't seem to find what I'm looking for,

I save all my contacts onto my gmail account when creating a new contact but then my phone was factory reset, so the problem is when I try to sync from my gmail account none of my numbers are showing??

I've tried syncing from "accounts & Sync" and also "import contacts"

Am I missing something? I've def saved all my numbers under my gmail account but none of my numbers are showing, any ideas?

    Cheers

Under settings-accounts have you sync Gmail ticked?

Have you two Gmail accounts and you're syncing to the wrong one.

Other than them two obvious fixes I don't know why your contacts wouldn't sync

No I just use the one gmail account, and yea I the gmail sync ticked.

Don't know what the problem is as I created all my contacts under my gmail account...

Have you looked at contacts.google.com to make sure they are actually saved on your account?

Do you have adequate spare storage on the phone itself?

Sync stops working when you are low (not out) on storage space.

I've just checked and there's no numbers so I take it they never saved to my account, boll*x..!

Don't understand how tho, had my gmail account ticked to sync and always saved my new contacts under my gmail, take it there's no way to recover them?

    Thanks again

I have seen on some phones the option to use the phones contacts rather than google. If you select that, sync with google will do nothing, as you're not storing contacts with google. I actually find that useful as often I don't want phone numbers in my gmail account and I don't want email address's on my phone. However its useless for backup.

I don't think there is any way to recover them if they are not synced to your Google account unfortunately. Unless you have a backup of your device on the PC?

Yea I think if fairly safe to say there all gone, absolutely raging.

@Boston, yea I save all my numbers on my gmail account and not the phone memory

What version of Android are you on.
I noticed that my updates to contacts on the phone weren't transferred to Gmail after the initial sync. I'm now on cyanogenmod 10 (4.1.2).
When you go to sync, is the date of the latest sync old?
If you go to settings - apps and force stop and clear data on contacts and contact storage it should sync again.
However, I updated a contact number after and the sync is stuck again.

Let's hope that you did once have all your contacts in Google and that by syncing after the factory the reset that you wiped them.

If that is the case then go to Google contacts on your home computer browser.
    Click on the 'More' button.
    Click on 'restore contacts...'
You can then go back in time to any date and click restore.
Hopefully your stored contacts will be back!
