    Hey all can anyone tell me why this is appearing on Flight Radar 24 lately just North/North West of Derby

    Most likely it is an ATC RABM (range and bearing marker) it is a Mode S transponder probably fitted to the VOR so that ATC can check the accuracy of the radar. There are usually many of these around the country and they are always on. If one pops up on the Radar screen it means there is a problem with the radar. The odd time you will get questioned by pilots as they will display on their TCAS.

    The reason it is on your screen is most likely the Mode S receiver is very close to the site and is picking up the transponders signal.
