17 year old looking for a job

    Hi all,
    Im 17 and am looking for a part time job in a shop or something, does anyone have any advice when applying, and what i should do and how to approach the manager. Would jobs for someone my age be hard to come by or are there alot more then we realise, any help will be greatly appreciated.

    there IS jobs out there, regardless of what other may say/think. the key is to be persistent. It may take trailing around to shop every day for a month, but if you keep trying- you WILL get a job.

    The only other thing you will need is experience. If you don't have any yet, you really need to get some. I got my first job at 17 because I worked for free for a year in the school shop and volunteered in a preschool. It would be a good idea to tell the manager of the store you would like to work in, that you want experience so you'll work for free for a couple of weeks. At the end of the few weeks, they will either hire you or you will be able to get a job elsewhere.

    Other then these two important points, always request to give your CV directly to the manager and when you are going in to talk to them, look tidy and smile lots. good luck with everything :)

    I agree with you on that. But don't go working for free! Anyone who is taking staff on like that is more than likely doing it off the record and it won't help you in any way. If you use them for a reference there will be no record that you worked there.
