iPhone 4 not ringing any more

    Hi all

I have an iPhone 4S (I think) that won't ring any more. Alarm and other tones work, and the vibrate works, but when I get a call or SMS, nothing. I have done several hard reboots and updated to iOS 6 but that hasn't solved the problem. I have also checked all the obvious things like the ringer volume, airplane mode etc, and the mute switch is not set to mute. I have also given it to several iPhone users, one of whom is a total apple fanatic and owns every apple device going and they can't figure out what's wrong. Phone is 18 months old or so. Anybody had this problem or know of a possible fix?

One thing I have noticed is that the mute switch at the side does nothing any more, before when I set it to mute it used to vibrate and the alarm bell came on the screen to show the phone is muted, this no longer happens. Could the switch have gone faulty and left my phone stuck on mute? Needless to say this is becoming a real annoyance, I am constantly missing calls and messages, would really appreciate any help. Is there anywhere I can bring / send it that will fix it and not cost a fortune?

Yes, I'd imagine it's about the button at the side. In the settings I believe you can change the function of that switch to rotation lock. When you manage that, double clicking the home button and swiping to the left give you the option to take off silent mode.

    Jail breaking is another option

Actually I've got it! Look for assistive touch under the accessibility part of settings. You can mute/ unsure from there.

Yeah looks like I will need to do this, what is the best way to do this on a 4s with iOS 6 installed? I take it that it's reasonably straightforward?
