Wanted - recommended Dog groomer near Drogheda

Could anyone please recommend a dog groomer near Drogheda? We have two golden retrievers and are looking for good groomer who will do a FULL groom - not just a shampoo and blast blow dry. As an analogy, we're looking for a valet rather than just a car wash and a wipe over with a chamois!!

    Thanks in advance :)

There's sisters in Mornington that groom my friends 4 dogs, and one of them is a big old goldie!

My dogs don't visit the groomers, they swim pretty much everyday and I give them a good brush and a quick clip as needed myself. But she swears by these girls and her dogs love them. There names are Cathy and Alison and they used to work out of Bellewstown Kennels but set up on their own. Cathy's number is 086 4181822.

I would highly recommend The Barking Mad Grooming Parlour in Tullyallen. Sandra is the womans name and she has been grooming our dogs for years. Her number is (041) 9830239

    Would they do huskies perchance?

I'm sure they would, as I say they used to work out of Bellewstown Kennels who take in all shapes and sizes so could hardly have discriminated against the bigger double coated breeds. Sure give them a ring and ask.

When you say 'huskies' - how many have you got;)?

Take your pick... they're 2 a penny these days!
I bring my hound to anke in Gerry O'Dowd's ver in Ardee, but only because she specialises in that breed.
There's also Shampoodles in Termo, her name escapes me but she's pretty good.
    Paws for thought in Tenure...
    An Madra Nua...
and Equippet do an all rounder for cheap enough, however they're always booked out well in advance.

I had visions of a sledful:D. Beautiful dogs, I had one here during the summer on her holidays and she was hilarious. Very stand offish at the start but eventually became slightly more affectionate, firstly she used to tap me on the bum with her nose when I was preparing her dinner, then she got up beside me and let me cuddle her and eventually gave me a kiss. She was fascinated with a little yorkie boy that was here as well and was determined to play with him but he was having none of it, he only wanted to play with my setters.

Yup, all of that sounds familiar. The younger one (nearly 3) is v stand offish, but when he sees you first his ears go back and the tail goes mad. 5 mins after that, he merely wants to keep you in sight in case there is food. I've had him since he was about 12 weeks.

The second, 4 and a bit, is far friendlier but he was a rescue dog. Loves his rubs :)

It's mad about the difference in rescue dogs isn't it? My first setter - we got her as a pup at 8 weeks, has known nothing but affection since the day she arrived so pretty much expects it.

Our rescue boy who was abandoned and left for dead was in the rescue recuperating for almost 5 months from the myriad of ailments he had (severely malnourished, mange, open sores, ear & eye infections were the main ones:() and when he came to me he was healthy but he had no confidence and was a nervous wreck.

Gradually he came out of his shell and he has now become the most affectionate dog, who literally gazes into your eyes with gratitude when you pet and rub him. It would break your heart:o.

Couldn't recommend them highly enough. They look after my 4 year old Lab.
Also, as I work 9am-5pm they collect her in the morning at 8.30am-ish and drop her back at lunch time. I know they collect other dogs too.

    Excellent, excellent service.

Hey, did you ever get sorted with a groomer. I use a lady in Duleek and she is fab. It's k9 grooming duleek and her name is Diana 0879140217. She does my 3 dogs and my 2 sisters go to her too. She came highly recommended to me by a lady I met on bettystown beach one day. I must say that she has to be the best groomer I've used, never mind accommodating but the job she does is exactly what I wanted and my dogs love her which is nice to see, perfect in every way. She must do all breeds as I've seen some fantastic looking dogs coming out of her shop. Sure give her a try, All the best.
