Is there a list of Dublin leap card agents anywhere?

All the websites say "at one of 400 leap card agents in the city", but none has a map or list of where they are.
I'd like to know this specifically so I can see if any of the shops which stay open late, where I used to get my nitelink tickets, will let me top up my leap card there instead (now that Dublin Bus have seen fit to add an irritatingly fiddly 70c to the price) :D

    Anyone got a list?

this is not very good but most payzone outlets sell and will top up your leap card.

You can of course top-up at Luas stops and train stations, although access may be restricted at this hour.

If you select Leap Card as the product, and your area on this link. It will tell you your local Leap Card Agents

I think the OP is looking for a simple list rather than the seek-out method ?

Whilst lists of any kind are useful, nothing beats effective highly visible Point-Of-Sale material, whis is exactly the missing element in Leapcard.

Limited to non-existent publicity material on the largest user element (Bus),restricted to small stickers on the validators themselves.

At this juncture Leapcards Frog really needed to be incorporated into the BAC Logo itself (Leaping over the Castle) rather than the current totally seperate identity, with all the attendant uncertainty about who actually runs the show ?

Another tip, which I'd forgotten until recently, is that if you have a Luas stop in the area you can use their ticket machines to top up the card even if you're not travelling by tram itself.(I emphasise the ticket machines and not the validators, which will deduct a fare if you swipe them).

The nearest outlet for Celbridge is in Lucan according to the payzone map! it is either not up to date or just not working properly, pretty much the story of Leap!

The driver on the Nitelink was telling me last night that that leap card on the DRIVER machine was charging €5.70 but on the pole scanner it was only taking €5.00 off the cards.

On a side note, why can DB take note in the coin box on the Nlinks but not on the normal buses?

Afaik they take notes by hand and not into the coinbox and all notes are passed to an inspector for depositing in the ticket bus before departure.

Holy Jeebus, where did THIS come from ?

Dublin Bus drivers may not handle cash in any form.

This standing instruction applies to ALL Dublin Bus services bar Airlink and City Tours.

Drivers found in breach of this are liable to disciplinary action up to,and including, dismissal.

There is NO provision for Inspectors to handle notes or to interefere with the normal operation of the Autofare system.

Inspectors, who act in this manner are equally as liable to disciplinary action as any other staff member, and perhaps should be reminded of this by their line management also.

The policy on Autofare operation is very clearly outlined, uniquely so In my opinion,as it is one of the very few elements of Company Policy which is Totally Unambiguous in outline.

Having established the appropriate fare for the journey, you insert the exact fare in coins only into the top of the fare box. Notes are not accepted.
Please note no change is given by the driver or machine and The driver is not allowed under any circumstances to handle cash.

    http://www.dublinbus.ie/Your-Journey1/Timetables/Nitelink-Services/
You can pay on the bus with coins only. Please note that banknotes are not accepted as our bus drivers do not handle cash therefore no change can be given. You can also pay with a prepaid ticket.

Could it be any clearer :confused::confused:

I can get mine topped up in Celbridge but I'm buggered if I'm telling you where :D

It doesn't take much to figure out, a basic knowledge of the town helps. But still, if mock outrage cranks your shaft, who am I to criticise?

The last time I used a nightlink the drivers accepted notes and they were taken away by an inspector to the ticket bus before the bus departed. This was some time ago though and it may well be different now.

According to the information provided by the leap website the nearest place to buy or top up a leap card for Celbridge is in Lucan. I also know the newsagents on the main street in celbridge does leap as well as al dublin bus tickets but the clowns in leap card dont apear to know this!

I can assure you Foggy,it most certainly was'nt ME that was driving that Nitelink.

The Nitelink Ticket Buses are now also redundant as all the off-bus ticket sales are handled by 24 hour shops adjacent to the termini.

Well, they are meant to be only taking coins, but it appears some make up their own rules. Was surprised to see one driver take a note the other week. He mentioned the coins only rule, but told the people coming on not to worry about it.

People were stuffing notes in the coin box. I believe the shop sold out of tickets.

Still i wouldnt expect to see notes getting accepted.

Do they not take notes on the Airlink?
last time I was on the night link the ticket buses were still in use.

The Airlink is the only service that does accept notes.

The Nitelink ticket buses are long long gone.

It's probably 8 years since I was on the night link

Great lad altogether, gets a real big warm fuzzy feeling whilst making it a hell of a lot more difficult for other drivers who do NOT pick n choose their methods of operation.

Next time that passenger boards a bus and flashes a note, the converation is bound to include..."Well the last Driver had no problem taking my note" or,worse still, that passenger heads off and tells his/her friends that "Oh it's alright, the driver will take your notes,it's only a silly oul rule that means nothing in reality"

    :o

Yeah, was a lack of foresight on his part. Unsure if he was a bit fresh or not and if he's ever heard the phrase, "Do it for one, expect to do it for all."

    For sure.

It's not an easy or popular call to make, but the Coin-Only situation is long-standing and well publicised.

The problems roll on and increase when people get to believe that the regs "don't apply" or that they are only "for show".

The next time the situation occurs for this person (and it WILL) it usually escalates, perhaps into unpleasantness with all that incurs for those who HAVE followed the rules and whose journeys are then delayed etc ....:(

Bring out a €5 coin and problem is solved!

Or DB could just accept notes if they decide to have such high fares on their routes! I have seen inspectors change €5 notes for coins with bewildered first time users of the service.

Minimum amount of coins needed for a spin on the fightlink is 5,

2 x 2, 1x 1, 1 ×.50, 1x.20. Most customers would be doing well to have that at the end of the night!!

In fairness, a lot of punters generally have the coins, but in lacking the ability to count out the amount, they present to a driver a palm full of coins, from which the driver selects the fare!

Have seen drivers on the 69N and the old 51N take €5 notes the odd time when a group of people would board just before the last bus of the night was about to depart and they didn't have a paper nitelink ticket or €5 in change.

Driver never handled cash himself though, just told the passengers to put the note in the autofare box.
