    Hi Folks,

I'm sure it's been asked a million times but looking to get a 2007 BMW 316 petrol serviced. 50k on the clock. I've done some googling but for the life of me I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Some places have a 55 point check, others do something else at different prices.

What is the average price range I'm looking at? I'm happy to pay the going rate for good work but don't want to be rode. So anyone who can enlighten me on average prices will help me in my search.

Also would love suggestions either in the south Dublin area or north Wicklow. Not overly bothered about having the BMW mark on the log book on a 6 year old car. Just after good quality work.

    Cheers!

Hi there I actually work for a BMW specialist having said that that doesn't really matter. The service will cost different depending on the parts required and the correct oil being used. Then the car could also need brakes our other worn parts but il put it this way for you.

Your standard service oil air and plugs changed and the correct oil and a complete safety check of the complete car including diagnostic check should run you between 200e and 250e if the correct spec parts are used.

If you add in say front brake pads you could add another 100e on top and so on

    Thanks!

That's around what I thought it would be. Advanced Pitstop was the only website that gave an actual quote for the car type and it was 250 for the full service (then if they found issues, cost of parts and labour added on).

Personally I wouldn't go to advance pitstop.

There good at tyres and tracking that's there business I'd rather pay the same money to go some Indy with a good rep.

Are you having any issues with the car. There are afew common faults but I'm sure you no all cars have faults.

If u need any other advice I'm free to help you.

No trouble with the car (touch wood) just the service indicator has Started to come on. I've done about 12k since last service / buying the car. Thanks for the offer. I'll remember that if something goes wrong.

Outta my curiosity, what were the common faults on this car?

The rear diff give trouble BMW say the oil in then is life time oil when in fact it isn't. The diff will actually require changing if it haven't being done already. The gearbox can cause a problem popping out of gear. (Now I have only seen two that did that). The also give a lot of trouble with cam sensors and crank sensors and its very hard to diagnose.

Anyways I won't put you off the car all cars have faults personally I'm BMW mad and think they are in a class of there own

Its not possible to quote for any service on your model BMW unless the on board computer has been checked as your car uses a condition based service system, i.e what is due depends on how the car has been driven and how it has been serviced previously.

I presume you have a service light on the dash? If so you can scroll through the cars on board menus and check what items are due now or almost due and post those for accurate quotes.
