Hi guys, just wondering if anyone commutes from Lucan/Adamstown area to city centre and know of any good routes?

Moving back to Ireland soon and just checked the Dublin Bus student monthly ticket prices - 91.50. Extortionate!

    Thanks for any ideas.

Griffeen road - fonthill road - ballyfermot.

You could cycle from Lucan/Adamstown along the Grand Canal Green Route to Inchicore and follow the canal by road to the city centre.

I used to go quite a long way when I lived in The Old Forge in Lucan, just because I didn't like the N4. I went via Fonthill Road, Nangor Road, Long Mile road. I found it more relaxing as a cycle, but I think it was a bit long. It helped a little nthat I lived on what was then the southern end of the new builds in Lucan.

I'm just off Griffeen Avenue and cycle the N4 most days. Occaionally I'll go home through ballyfermot but prefer the N4 as it's a reasonably nice stretch without interuptions for traffic lights, etc..

Travel time varies a lot depending on the time of the morning, traffic volume, traffic lights, etc.. but I'd probably average ~35 mins to O'Connell bridge. Coming home takes longer though - typically get caught with traffic lights on south quays far more frequently

A cool route might be Lucan-lower road- strawberry beds- knockmaroon hill- chapelizod - then all along conygham road onto the quays into the city centre?

Thanks for the good advice. Haven't had an 11km commute before this and we don't have showers in the studio.. Bit of a nuisance. I'm a bit stuck for space with regards to spare clothes etc. because I already have a laptop and books in my bag. Any ideas? I was thinking of joining Ben Dunne gym for the sake of being able to use the gym the odd time and get a shower before college starts.
