    Shannon Foynes Port Company have published a draft Masterplan laying out their plans until 2041.
    http://www.sfpc.ie/download/Draft%20SFPC%20Masterplan%20-%20January%202013.pdf

    I haven't studied it yet but some things I did notice;

    They envisage the need for an additional 127 hectares in Foynes to expand as needed.
    Limerick Docks have some disused sites that the company will seek to either offload or work with third parties to develop.
    In this vein it suggests the creation of a Marine Energy Park in Limerick.
    The company emphasizes that Foynes Island is the only port in the country that can facilitate post Panamax vessels that has a direct rail connection.
    The Foynes rail line could be made operational within 6-12 months with an investment of €10 million. This would allow speeds of 40mph.
    It seeks to continue to promote the estuary as Europe's Ocean Energy Hub.
    The opening of the Shannon Tunnel and the shelving of the N21 upgrade and Adare bypass has resulted in the need for a new link road between the N69 & N21 being reduced.
