Im looking for some advice plse. Im unemployed and my JSB came to an end this week. I had my means test for JSA back at start of december. dp is self employed and his work has slowed right down since the summer. At my means test interview the lady told me he should make a claim too. Over xmas he had a bit of work so it wasnt until this monday past he went to dole office to make a claim himself which in turn put a hault on my claim. got a call today from them asking how we wanted to claim to go forward. For us to make a seperate claim ( but the money we would get would be just divided equally) or for him to claim for me or for me to claim for him, whichever one of us claims and signs get the full amount. Im wondering which is the best path to go down for us. Has any one experience of this type of situation?? I was wondering too, the total money which we will receive is €70 less a week than what I was getting on JSB(i was claiming for him and 2 children also) The figure received was based on 2010 figures for dps income. The new rate is based on 2011 figures - whereby his earnings are way down on 2010 and we have 3 children now. Is there any other payment we could get to help us until things get better. we are not entitled to FIS as he is self employed. what we will get in payment will just barely cover the mortgage with nothing left for bills food ect.
