Traktor is made by NI, who in turn make an entire suite of music production tools. They make the Maschine for example and work closely with hardware manufacturers to allow Traktor work with decks e.g. HID mode on the CDJ900/2000.

I would consider Traktor a far superior product to VirtualDJ having used both. They are essentially the same product at the end of the day so its down to personal preference. Traktor I feel has better effects (if your into that type of thing), a better layout (Less 'gimmicky' I thought) and the beat match engine seems better to me. On the downside its a little less intuitive so it takes a while to learn (I initially hated it) but once I did, I greatly preferred it.

My MIDI controller is a Novation LaunchPad.

I wouldn't class it as that hard but I might actually put a video together now that you mention it! Sometimes when something is second nature it can seem easy.

If you are using vdj at the moment and assuming you are using a genuine copy you could wait until later in the year when vdj 8 comes out, it is meant to be a major improvement on 7. Never bothered too much with traktor myself as I do video, but I know that there is a bit of a stigma attached to vdj on the club scene, personally I think it's underrated and not half as bad as its made out. It has a bad rep from poor old versions and cowboy djs using cracked copies of it and having all sorts of problems. Either way if you want to get into clubs etc it may be better to switch to traktor, if you do mobile work vdj will do fine cant see any reason to change.

I use a denon controller and sometimes an rmx with vdj and they both run the software flawlessly.

Didnt know there was a new virtual dj coming out.Improved in what way?Ya i do video djing too my self from time too time.
I just find it depends on the gig.If its chart and 80's etc then virtual is best.If its House and Dance etc in a club then Traktor is best.

Google vdj 8 there are some previews on YouTube, it will be a big change from 7, especially on the video end of things. Not sure what you mean that vdj is better for 80s music, but most club djs seem to prefer traktor alright. I have used it but the video was important for me so stuck with vdj. They are both very good, vdj has a reputation for crashing / freezing but I can honestly say I have used a paid version on a decent laptop for years and never had an issue.
