    Hi

We got LeapPad 2 for both our kids this christmas but were very disappointed to find out we can't buy apps from Ireland App Store using credit card.

Does anyone know if we can buy from UK App Store using credit card and if the Apps will download to and work on our Ireland-registered tablets?

    Hi!
I found myself in the same situation today, promised my little girl I'd get her some new games but then found that I would have to drive to Smyths to get a card. I had a look around and found that if you go to the American site for Leapfrog, you can buy this thing called 'LeapFrog App Center Download Code'.
You need to make sure that the country is set to United States, then you can pay with your Irish credit/debit card and they send you the code straight away in an Email.
You need to enter an American address in the billing address section in the checkout.
I used Wilmington for City, Delaware for state and 19801 for zip code. (Delaware because they don't charge sales tax:cool:)
I was prepared for the payment to be declined as the billing details don't match, but it worked!!! :D
They then send you the code in your Email, which can take a few minutes.
You go to back to www.leapfrog.com if you're not still on that site and click on [Redeem code] make sure the county is set as US!
Then see the credit in your account balance (in USD) and now you're able to buy the apps you want.
Then you pay for the apps, using the account balance and start the download.
Then you hook up your LeapPad to your pc and the Synch starts automatically. The program will tell you when you can detach the LeaPad.
It took me a few hours of searching this morning but this saved me a trip to the shops and a disappointed little lady.
I can really recommend the Team Umizumi game, she LOVES it, been playing it all day.
Let me know how you get on!

A UK address should work as well, but haven't tried that yet. The American address I used can be used over and over.

    Thanks for the info.
I went straight to the US App Centre and selected 4 games (4 for price of 3 offer at the moment) and just proceeded to checkout with my credit card using the address details you recommended and it went through fine. I used my real billing address details for Address Line 1 & 2 and entered my mobile number for phone number - without the +353 bit, it didn't work first time with that.
I didn't bother buying the app centre download code as you can only buy in multiples of $20. By buying app directly through the App Centre I was able to spend $30 without having to buy 2 x $20 codes and being left with $10 credit.

I'm currently downloading the apps to our girls' leappads - yay!

Ahaaa! I thought I HAD to buy that credit first, but that's even better!! I'll do that next time, buy the apps straight away. I also used my own street address and phone number without the +353. Why they don't offer that service to Europe, I don't know. Glad you got sorted! :)

I'm guessing this would all work in the UK App Store also, but it's cheaper in the US one with current prices & exchange rates. Thanks for your help!

You are correct. Have been using the UK site no bother the last year by putting in The UK as country of residence. The app cards sold in Argos can only be used on The UK site - in my experience. They are actually not allowed to sell them by Leapfrog (app card can only be used on the site of the country of purchase), but they do, so it's not always worth the euro equivalent purchase price. Argos have the odd 3 for 2 deal thou. As you can download each game twice from the Leapfrog site (once to 2 different devices), then if you know anyone else who has a LeapPad you can download a pile of games and half the cost!

I believe that after you download your purchased apps to your computer, you can put them on up to 3 devices through Lead Frog Connect - each device must be registered to your Parent Account though. So you could register a friend's device to your parent account so they can get your purchased apps - but I'm not sure what'll happen if they already have purchased apps through their own parent's account - probably similar to I-tunes syncing, i.e. it will probably remove the apps purchased on the friend's parent's account and put your apps on (after you re-register their device to your parent account?). If the friend is not using downloaded apps, though, then it's all good.

    Didn't happen. No issues.

You probably all have the codes for the two free games at this stage, but just in case anyone missed them:

    The Book of Super Awesome Stuff" # 5813 1140 1518 1413

    and

    "Alphabet Soup Game" # 5813 0790 4610 4973

They worked for me recently. HTH.
