I'm after dropping a screw into my ASUS U32V, I can't find any guides for opening it and I can't get it open, what should I do?

Is it likely to cause a problem?

Is yours the V? Or a VD?

Mine was simple to take apart. Just remove the back panel to get access to the innards, although I assume that this hasn't worked:D

Mines the VJ, Its different to that, the keyboard side is aluminium and the bottom and sides are plastic, I've tried taking out all the screws but I can't get the bottom away from the aluminium.

Ah sorry, i assumed the ux32 would be the same shape to mine, but it seems it's not!

Nothing worse than having to take a machine apart not having a disassembly guide, complete pain in the hole. My guess would be that there's plastic clips holding the bottom to the aluminium chassis...but that is a complete guess bases on experience.

I can see where the worry lies for sure...sorry man, I haven't been much help./:o

I am not sure what size entry you have but if you get a small pin/needle and magnetize it you might be able to retrive it this way, (out side the box, but could also blow the box)

Two problems with that are, I don't know where it is anymore, it seemed to be around the speakers and then it just went silent, now it doesn't rattle at all, I've shook the laptop in every way possible and can't hear anything and most of the body is metal so a magnet wouldn't do much good.

It would find a lose object, but if you can not hear it when shaking/rattling, which in itself would not be to good, my guess it is stuck where it entered.

...if it was near the speakers then, if you're lucky, it's now safely stuck to one of the speaker magnets and will stop moving around
