    Hello all,

I hope you had a good Christmas and New Year.

I picked up a set of Genelec 6010a monitors the other week. I got them setup in the new flat and was wondering how this mix is coming out.

They are much more aggressive sounding than my KRK VXT6 and they have a fantastic low end for their size. They do miss a certain depth over the VXT6 but their low mid to HF clarity and forwardness makes up for the understandable lack of low end depth.

I have also moved into a new flat so I was curious if you guys could take a listen and see what the craic is with this mix.

Ill be in a normal studio soon with a sub to hear what is going on there.

On a musical note, I have no idea what to do about the chorus after the guitar solo. I have some DIs of the track but I need to fiddle around with Cubase 6.5s amp sim. I tried a double track of the rhythm guitar and it didnt quite work, but I will attack it again. There is a small breakdown which sounds nice and big, the band didnt intend on having much there but the song screamed out for it. A consequence is that there is something lacking for me during the transition.

    Thanks :)

Apart from that is ok on my B&W's. Get the bass guitar to drive it @ 1.40 with the drums it is just that little break lacking.

I hope the track is called Silvia;)

    Thanks for that reply.

I shall take a look at that.

Thats its name alright, quite rough when it gets stuck in your head. :o:P

    Thanks again

bass git sounds too panned to right
no kick drum to speak of either - sounds a bit too roomy or closed head .
needa bit of presence and low end i feel

a bit thin overall - but i like it .

    Thanks for that.

I was in a studio today and got the kick sorted. It is a very low end free mix, I think I had to readdress the room control on the small Genelecs, I have been messing with a few combinations.

    :)
