Did a search for this, but came across just mentions in other threads.

So this new show started yesterday -
it's based in the White House around the President's family and also sees the return of Bill Pullman, who I had admittedly thought was Joel Murray of God Bless America fame.

Seems to be doing pretty badly on IMDB, but I didn't think it was that bad. The fatter son has a very Seth Rogen/Jonah Hill vibe about him, but he seemed to have somewhat good comedic timing. However, I can see the younger siblings becoming quite grating.

    Anyone else catch this?

I'm up to speed on this show now after catching it over the weekend.

There are some reasons to like the show. Jenna Elfman looks great and I actually enjoy her in this. Bill Pullman does a great turn as the prez as well. The eldest daughter is so damn hot it's unreal and that's probably keeping a lot of my interest so far and one nice point is that they've now added Renée WhatsHisName (Odo from DS9) who, as older readers might know, started out as a regular on Benson in years gone by so it's kind of like seeing a great actor come full circle.

Beyond this though there is so much to not like about this show. It's kind of bad when the main character (Skip) who's the show's creator is actually incredibly annoying. The guy's idea of humour would appeal only to kids of 10 and lower. There is something wrong about the family as well. There are the two really old (20-something kids) and the primary school kids and none of them look like they are even related to each other in anyway way. I actually wish they got rid of the two younger kids. I don't see them adding anything to the show.

Retooled as a show about an American president in office with a daughter who finds herself as single mom, it might actually be quite good. As is though, it's a really bad attempt at recreating 80's shows like Major Dad where it's about family issues with a dad who just happens to be the President. They'd need to get rid of Josh Gadd and, considering it's his show, that aint gonna happen. The guy just shouldn't be allowed ever helm a show again after this.

It's pure filler travelling viewing for me at this stage.

Looks like I might be the only one watching this, on boards AND the US :).

Seems like it's getting burned off now. They ran a double last week and there's a double episode this week as well. There can't be too many more left.

Strangely the cast are starting to find their feet and I'm finding myself kinda starting to like the show at this point. Elfman & Pullman have great chemistry and stand out. She seems to be a great comedy actress, which is something I'd have never thought previously. They've (mercifully) taken the focus off Skip just a bit. He's still annoying and pointless. He's supposed to be 27 but what self respecting 27 yo would carry on like him? Christ Josh Gadd is an immature idiot!

The two younger kids are starting to grow on me. They're quite funny now and interesting enough in their own right though making the daughter gay just strikes me as a futile attempt to make the show seem úber cool but, hey whatever!

Another reason why Josh Gadd is an idiot is that he's happy with how the pregnant daughter's character is handled. On one hand we're being told she's seriously smart and intelligent and a very capable woman. On the other she's still hanging out with her hunky baby daddy who happens to have an IQ of 20. I think we all know in most sensible people's minds, this girl would be going it alone.

Some things work about this show, some things are just needlessly stupid. I've a feeling I won't have to worry for much longer though. I never want to see a Josh Gadd show again.
