In front of the roundabout at airside in swords to diblin city, i was in the left lane planning to go straight. The other driver was in the right lane. I entered into the roundabout and in the middle of the roundabout, her car cut into mine. We exited the roundabout. She waved at me and wanted to keep going. She switched lanes as well in front of me. I drove after her and flashed my headlight. She finally stopped. I checked my car and it was fine. But her car had got deep big dents. She didnt know that time. The first thing she said after she got off the car was that she did not have time to deal with this and just let it go. I told her that my car was fine but hers no good. And I also mentioned its dark and might my car got scratches. She said we both were in the correct lanes. And its just some mistakes that we crashed into each other. She wanted me to pay her for dents. I told her its completely not my fault and I was not going to settled this privately. So we took pictures, called the Garda (they didn't come just asked us to exchange details). She was hesitated to call the garda but i insisted. Anyway, I got a phone call from her insurance company. But I was driving I didn't take any calls. And when I called back, I could not reach anyone. I called my insurance company as well. My questions:

    1. Was she on the correct lane? (Drive on the right lane to go straight in the roundabout?) I check the book (attached file) supposed if you wanna go straight at roundabout you should use the left lane. But it's dark and maybe the marking on that road allows drivers to do so???

    2. She cut into me from the right. My car was in front of her car. So basically it's the front of her car hit the right side of my car. But can she say insist that it's me who turn too right??????

    3. Do I need to return her insurance's call?

    4. What should I do or not do?

    5. Are there any chances to go to the count of both of us refuse to take the responsibility?? I'm sure I did nothing wrong but I hate the hassles yet I would not take any s...t I didn't do!

Sorry about the long posts and I appreciate any comments!! Millions thanks!!

OP Just for a bit of clarity:

    1. Is this the roundabout at the travelodge?
    2. Which of the exits were you on? a. Travelodge, going straight to go into Swords, Coming from Airport to continue up the N1, coming from N1 to to to the airport, or coming from Swords en route to Airside?

How do you figure that? Is the left lane signposted as first exit only?

No, that's part of why you have insurance in the first place, let your insurance company deal with all that hassle

    Why?

You were definitely in the correct lane OP. Even if you go straight through a roundabout in the right lane, you should exit and still be in the right lane.
Google satellite view the roundabout for us, unless left was turn left only which is rare enough, you were in the correct lane and she was in the wrong.

I'd say you were in the right lane and she was in the wrong one so.

For those who don't know it, the OP would have approached this roundabout in one of two lanes, the roundabout itself is two lanes all around, exit he took is two lanes. (Roundabouts with varying lane amounts are a specialty in Swords)

There are no markings on that roundabout indicating which lane is to be used for what.

Not your fault, you had right of way

The lanes you were in entering the roundabout is really irrelevant, if somebody is changing lanes they have to give right of way to cars already in the lane they're switching into.
It's inconsiderate to be in the wrong lane and potentially forcing cars to go around again, but they don't have any legal right to drive into you.

Never mind what lane you are both in, she drove out of her lane into you on a roundabout!! Although, that's your word against hers :(
Threads like these make me want to buy a decent dashcam

    IMO

    A) the lanes you are in entering the roundabout are very relevant

B)OP wasnt in the wrong lane and wasnt being inconsiderate

Isn't the left lane on that roundabout marked for left?

    Thanks for you guys' comments.

Attached please find the pictures I took from google map. It was the crows castle roundabout. I was going through that roundabout from swords to the direction to m1.

I didn't notice any markings as its dark and I was just driving the usual way I think it's correct.

I wasn't implying that the OP was in in the wrong lane or being inconsiderate, I actually think they were in the correct lane, I just meant that people who don't enter roundabouts in the corect lanes are inconsiderate.
My point is, regardless of what lane they were in, if somebody is changing lane they don't have right of way, regardless of what lane they enter the roundabout in, so how is it relevant?

Sorry I thought it was Pinnock Hill one roundabout further down :) Took out the post with that particular image.

Same thing applies though, even though there are two exit lanes when you go straight through

She'd still be in the wrong, and there are no markings at all on that roundabout.

It's also a "three-legged roundabout" as the exit to the left of where OP was coming from is just used by one office block and is rarely populated with traffic.

OP, have you informed your own insurance company, you should contact them within 24hrs of any accident, regardless of if you were right or wrong, otherwise they can refuse to cover you if you are found to be at fault.

    Yes, I did already. Thanks!

You might want to call your own insurance company back and ask them how you should deal with the other insurance company when they call you again.
For example they could tell you if it is wise to accept any offer they make, or should you agree to just drop the whole thing if they offer that since your car wasn't damaged.

Since my car is ok (so far, will check it again day time), i don't think I want any money although my friend joked about that I was shocked and got psychological pains! :)

just I don't want to be claimed or any hassles with this neither. But since she went to her insurance, I just wanted to make sures things won't go ridiculously wrong against me.

Million thanks for the advice and comments.

    You're welcome.

Ask your insurance company for the name of the person handling your case now that you've reported it (claims handler) and refer the other insurance company to your insurance company, and give them the name of the claims handler.
You may find as the other driver is disputing fault that you'll have assessors from both come out to inspect your car and get a fairly detailed account of your version of events.

Don't be too worried about this, they are generally very nice, will examine your car for damage quite closely, and take down details of what you tell them. They also tend to be quite accommodating in terms of scheduling their visits.

From looking at that - she was definitely in the wrong!
