Driving uphill will show it up, (well that is how I found out) big or slow growing hill if your clutch is dodgy it will show, (those who know best may run me down).

Put it in a higher gear doing maybe 20 to 30 mph.
Put the boot down and if the revs rise fairly fast but you don't feel the car speeding up, then your clutch is slipping

Using a hill will show this up, foot down, car staying on the spot.

So stick car into 5th at 30mph and floor it, see if it picks up speed.

Yes but look or listen for rpm rising first and then going back down when car starts to speed up

Tried this morning and car pulled well in 5th at 30, there was a bit of shudder but it accelerated grand. Thanks for the advice.

I don't know if it works on cars as well as 4x4's but the way I used to check was to put the bumper against a solid wall and in 2nd let the clutch out.
If it stalled straight away the clutch was fine, if it ran on for a bit the clutch was on the way out.

The shudder was probably because maybe 5th was too high at 30mph.
If you want try 5th at around 40mph or 4th at around 30mph.

Let the clutch out gently with the car in gear (Some use 3rd for this) and the handbrake on. If the engine doesnt stall immediately, your clutch is slipping.
