And good riddance to it too.
Why should the state pay for your religious choices? Budget for them yourself.

There has been very little coverage of this considering the huge media furore about child benefit cut last month and when this particular payment was reduced last year.
I'm glad it's been removed though but apparently it will exist in "cases of significant hardship"

Best go to your cwo and see, i don't no why they can't make these in there school uniform during school hours anyway, would make a huge difference to parents struggling at the moment. I have decided not to let my daughter make hers as we don't go to mass every weekend anyway.

If the grant's finished, perhaps you can get some nice clothes cheap from M & S. I expect there will be some in the charity shops too. Have a look round.

That's weird, I was in with the CWO (in Meath) last week and there was a big sign up saying it's been stopped. Maybe it varies by area?

I got a leaflet from Mary Mitchell 0 Connor TD.Entitlements 2013. It states 110 euro grant for Communion & Confirmation.

It was definitely abolished. The Exceptional Needs Payment is still in place, but is for (obviously) exceptional needs, and a very good case would need to be made to get it for a communion.

You'd better tell her she'd disseminating false information.
In order to achieve these Budget savings that payments made under the scheme in respect of Communion and Confirmation clothing or equivalent religious ceremonies cease and that payment in 2013 and subsequent years be confined to cases of significant hardship – estimated savings as a result of this measure €1.7m. http://meathfinegael.ie/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/DSP_Budget_2013_Briefing.pdf
