Are they legitimate? I am thinking of scrapping my car and they have offered me some cash for it and will collect it also, my reception wasn't great but I asked could I get a certificate of destruction and he said yes, just have the logbook there. what should I expect?
Should I receive the CoD immediately from the driver.
There are quite a few months tax on it

    Any advice welcome

    Thanks

Keep the tax disc and return it to the Tax office with the cert of destruction. I am sure you would get a refund.

What car is it? You may well find that someone here or elewhere might at least match the scrap price if they need a few parts.

Thanks, it's an old chrysler, I doubt anyone else would come to my side of the country and there is 7.5 months tax on it that if I'm going to scrap it I want to claim it back. It's up on donedeal but no one really biting.

    Is it that one?

If it had been Auto I'd have beat the scrap price myself anyway. Ah well.

Does it have a valid NCT ?

No, sorry, thats why I'm selling cheap, needs some work

I wonder does anyone know if they will issue me with a CoD there and then?

Judging by the link I posted, I would advise you to be careful. It would be nearly safer selling privately and get seller to complete VLC and send to Shannon yourself. Get new buyer to sign a 'sold as seen' disclaimer if you have to.

I would avoid them. Would prefer not having eflow tickets streaming through my door.

I used http://scrapmycar.ie and my car was scrapped properly.

We recently scrapped something in Cork and the recommedation from our main dealer down there, to get it done properly was to take it to http://www.pouladuffscrapmetal.ie.

Due to one thing and another that didn't work out (availability of keys and paperwork when the driver went to collect) so in the end it was collected by:
    Godfrey Kirby Car Dismantlers
Address: Bawnard East, Midleton, Co Cork
    Tel: 021 4632790
    Fax: 0214632790
    Waste Licence
    WCP-CK-10-0765-01

Both are authorised end of life vehicle centres who will give you a certificate of destruction. Unfortunately, google maps tells me that both are close to Cork City, but you are quite a bit out. Not sure if Godfrey Kirby will collect from you as the vehicle we had picked up was only in Little Island.

scrapmycar.ie completely wasted my time. Said they'd collect, gave me several dates, never turned up.

Since scrapmycar.ie won't pay you, I feel like you have confused the two sites.

Yes, that's exactly what I did, thanks for the correction. Apologies to scrapmycar.ie, it was scrapmycarireland.ie that wasted my time!

How much would you get for scrap?
Drop the price on DD and you'll get more interest.

No way you'd get €450-€500 in scrap?
