    Hi all,

Valentines day is coming up and I have no experiences in men's watches. Would love to hear your opinions. I am going to buy one of these watches for my boyfriend. Because we have been dating for 3 months so I honestly have no idea about his preferences( metal strap or leather strap). So I'm posting two pictures below. I've seen these two in the shop with 2 years warranty and presentation box. Gents, which one you prefer please. I know there are many nice ones but they are within my budget. Thanks in advance for your help.

Haha, thanks. He was so generous with my Christmas presents so I am thinking maybe this a good choice of gift...well, I hope so.

longines for me too I have to say.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    also prefer the Longines

my 2c would be that both watches have contrasting dial colours

When I was buying a watch a few months ago I had an option of a white or black dial of the watch....definitely wanted the white dial until I tried both on and chose the black dial.
Also, if he has a big wrist could have a factor on how it looks.

For your budget there is a multitude of nice watches out there...

My pick would be this one as its also 44mm diameter like the RW

You would easily have this in time for Valentines

Looks good for casual and can pull off dress look aswell and is not light or dark faced if you are unsure

Thanks, I personally prefer Longines watches for ladies but I know nothing about Men's watches and their preferences. I bought one for my dad but he doesn't care about fashion as long as its a good, long lasting watch:-).

Thank you. I'm in London for a week and Westfield shopping the Jan sale is on so I will get 10 % off for Longines watch and 20% off for RW so need to buy before return to Ireland.

I'd probably want more than 10% off list price for LOngines. It's a pity you're away already as I was at Paul Sheeran's shop off Grafton Street today and he has a window full of Longines, Raymond Weil and (some) Breitling all discounted.

If you identify the one you want, it might be worthwhile ringing them to see what price they would do for the same model.

Forget about RW. That is a ridiculous price to pay for a RW quartz..
Longines all the way. Much better watch anyway.
    two other issues
Taste in watches is a very personal thing. It is very hard to buy one for a bloke and get it right
Also a bit scary thing for a bloke to get a pressie like this early in a relationship
    Keep him keen
Get him an itunes gift card instead:)

Thanks for the helpful information. My friend has visited Paul Sheeran for me and she said they don't have the same model but there are plenty of discounted Longines within my budget so I'm heading home soon and I will definitely go for a Longines.

Thank you guys for your opinions.

Thank you. I understand totally about it might be scaring thing for a bloke but he bought me a beautiful ring and many more plus a very cool trip away for our Valentines so what I'm going to spend on him is not much compare to what he has spent on me. Just want to give him something nice since he doesn't want me to pay for half of the trip. He is a mad one and he hasn't scared me yet..:-). Keep him keen..haha, he is very much on his toes:-@. I will give him a watch but it doesn't mean I want to marry him next month...well, he wishes :-). If that scares him away, his lost! ;-)

Longines too for me - by a long way.....also, if you're flying back from UK - you should be able to get at least 15% discount in any of the airports - probably 20% in Heathrow
