    Supermac’s set for Australian invasion

IRISH fast-food favourite Supermac’s is set to open outlets Down Under.

Chief Pat McDonagh from Galway will gamble his chips on homesick punters.

He said: “There are more people applying for Australian visas than ever. Hopefully, we’ll be opening overseas over the next 12 months.

“With the number of requests we have from people who have been back, we see there is a demand for it out there.”

The company already has 100 restaurants across Ireland — and Pat reckons he will open four more in 2013.

He said: “You have to work very hard to stay standing still.”

Former teacher Pat founded the Supermac’s chain in 1978.

Over the past few years, the company has expanded its product range by launching the franchise Papa John’s Pizza.

Latest accounts filed for Supermac’s (Holdings) Ltd to the end of 2012 show the company had a turnover of €60.5million and recorded a €4.2million profit.
