A friend of mine has a 1937 Opel Kadett to sell. He reckons it will most likely sell on the European mainland as it is an Opel rather than a Vauxhall.

He wants to sell it fairly quickly and wondered if there are sites that are best suited to this sort of sale.

    Thanks.

Is it an original Irish Car? I'm a member of the Opel Vauxhall Club Ireland and would be interested in hearing some information about it. Let me know some more details please. We've a facebook page @ www.facebook.com/opelvauxhallclubireland

Did your friend ever hear of E Bay?

Yes, he's heard of eBay. I have no idea how effective it is for classic and vintage cars but I am in the process of putting it up there. I haven't done it before, so a bit slow about it.

The car is right hand drive and convertible. It is in good condition as it was restored a number of years ago. I will link to the eBay listing when i have it done.

    Thanks for the replies.

Tried putting a few things up but never had any luck on it, some say there's a 'trick' to listing stuff.

Be very careful of scam artists on eBay when you're selling stuff abroad.

    You could also try

No matter where you sell it to: no car goes anywhere without the cash in your account, cleared, first. Genuine buyers will have no problem with this tbh.

It's not the greatest for this kind of stuff: the 'petrolhead' sites are more focussed. There's a lot of.............shoite......... on eBay sometimes.

I buy a lot of 'shoite' on E Bay ..... you need to know what you're looking for and how to read the descriptions.

I listed an item on E Bay not so long ago for €0.99 and set a reserve. The first bid came in and reached the reserve and it went on to sell for twice what I had hoped for !! Happy days

SEE  , I KNEW there was a 'way' to do it :o

As an innocent  what I read above is you listed it at 99c, and you got €2 for it - or would you like to be more spacific (sic) about it ?
Now if you said that you listed a banger at 4k and got 8k THEN I might wake up :P :p

Here's an example - http://www.ebay.ie/itm/1999-MERCEDES-C43-AMG-AUTO-SILVER-/130832669039?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1e763c196f It's listed as being in Ireland yet the seller says ' It is also registered in Ireland and will not incur any import duty there....'

So where IS it , UK or IRL ?? The rest of the cars seem to be in the UK or Spain so it's not got much relevance to us ??
Another time a chap sent me an email saying he wanted to buy the S for his 'father in Malaysia' so I told him to forward me a 'Jabatan Kastam Diraja Malaysia' form and I'd proceed - end of 'sale'

Nope! I put a motorbike up on E Bay and I started the auction at €0.99. I set a reserve at €500 cuz I reckoned it was worth close to that. The first bid that came in reached the €500 (as he had bid €600). Five other bidders joined the race and the bike eventually went for €960 .... Happy Days!!

On another matter have a look at THIS on E Bay ....

Is it on Ebay yet? as I would be interested to see the condition and a ballpark figure.

Capri, you made the schoolboy error of not paying much attention to the word "reserve". You cannot set a "reserve" on ebay.ie lower than €70. ;) (On ebay.co.uk the reserve floor is £50)

I use ebay uk nearly every other day to buy specific goods(not cars) almost always as a buyer, I rarely sell on it.
The trick to ebay is simple, you need to know what something is worth to you and how much you are prepared to pay for it, then bid that amount and forget about it.
I use an auction sniper service to put my bid in at the very last 3 seconds, this eliminates most of the stalkers (bidders who haven't a clue but think you do)
    and shill bidders.
If you're offered a second chance to buy from the seller after losing the auction, ignore it, its probably a shill bid.

Hi has the car been put on any site for sale yet.
    Cannot seem to find it.
I would be interested in it but for the money they make sometimes i might be out of the running already.
    But you never know.:)
