No, registration of a business name is a once-off task. The business name continues to be registered until you de-register the business name with the CRO. A business name is also struck off when the registrant dies, but this obviously isn't the case here!

Can you not find it when you search by business name on the CRO website?

Thanks - the business name is still there on the website alright. Couldn't find any info about renewal (probably because, as you mentioned, its not needed!)
