just wonders what is the best meal to feed to bulls (for breeding).
i am feeding 5 bulls at the moment with ration from Dairygold which they are doing fine on but is there someting better i should be giving them?

2 of the bulls are 20mths and the other 3 are only 12 mths old yet.

it is the 2 big guys i am most wondering about as the younger guys have some growing to do yet.

If bull are young they need protein amd calcium. You laso got tom remember that there intake is small compared to a mature animal. By the time the spring comes you want a a bull that will look big for his age. It always amazes me the way buyers in Ireland take bulls that are well done.

Any ration with a high percentage of maize and Soya probally above 16% protein. Some bull breeders use maize and Soya only with minerals and calcium.

does thta mean i should be feeding the 12 month bulls a different meal to the 22 month old bulls, or do i take it that they are all still considered to be "growing"?

how much do you give them also, I bought a 16 month old bull before xmas and I am giving him full bucket (approx 8kg) split morning and evening, is that to much or little, is there any lick that should be put in with them

i give the 2 big lads about 5 kgs each once a day, they seem to have loads in that.
if i was keeping them for my own use i would be winding down the feed over time, so they are not shocked when they hit the grass, but i want to sell these lads on and unless i feed them to the day of the sale they will not look as good as other they are up against.

I'm giving my yearling pedigree bulls 5.5 kgs per day, split into 2 feeds, morning and night. I'm using Dairygold Supreme meal extra. Will switch to their Elite Munch later on in year, which I found very good last year, but at the moment the 16% meal is more suitable for growth
