Using old Sky + box for multiroom

    I am thinking about getting a new sky + box as mines not compatible with on demand and was wondering can i use the old sky + box in replace of one of the older multiroom boxes or is it literally scrap when i upgrade boxes?

    You can swap the standard box with a + box but you would need to ring Sky to have the card paired with the + box. Also you will be able to record, pause etc but if you wanted to do more than that (i.e. watch one channel while recording another) you will need a second cable from the dish.

    Can a person use a sky + plus box for basic FTA My sister does not require all the chanells at the moment and wants to cancell Sky She knows she cant record but that does not matter She is happy with basic British FTA which I have with an old sky box

    The box can be used for FTA channels but wont pick up as many channels as a Freesat box. The HD boxes that have been around for the last year or so will revert to the Irish EPG unless you have a freeview card. If the box is older it might boot with BBC1 on 101 etc
