laptop as a modem

hi guys,this is probabley a stupid question but here goes,im working in canada at the moment and am staying in one of the work camps,we have internet access in the rooms but im wondering is there any way of connecting my phone to the laptop to make some calls with viber,im in the back of beyonds and it will be another two month before i get the chance to buy a modem,regards

thanks guys,i use skype to chat with the wife but i needed viber to contact some friends,anyway i picked up a modem off a guy thats going home so im sorted now and can viber away,cheers

Yes you can, but you'll not have stereo reception as most mobile phones only have one speaker. However, you may be able to connect the headphones that typically are supplied with a mobile phone, and be able to have stereo reception.
