No, following some vandalism a couple of years ago they fenced it off and locked it to stop people getting in outside formal track sessions

Training will be starting up again in the next few weeks, but you can't just turn up with a normal road bike and would need some formal training before being allowed to ride the track with others.

There are no other velodromes in the Dublin area

Night cycling is safe enough with a good choice of route, and naturally a set of high-quality lights. I commute into work in the middle of the day, and home in the middle of the night. For the year or so that i've been doing it, I've had literally no moments that I actually felt unsafe at night, but plenty during the day.

What about the track in Corkagh Park? Its not a velodrome but i think it is 1.1km, not sure how well lit it would be, iknow there are no lights on it but id say at least part of it is lit from the road but couldn't say if all of it is

You'd be safer riding alone at night in the Phoenix park than at the sundrive track tbh. Just get yourself a descent light.
