The strap looks sound just the 800 won't pick it up,it's something I can't do without at the moment as I'm training every day now and It's hard to do without the hr,

Else Ring Garmin.Their customer support is excellent. They'll talk you through it and fix it on the phone if they can.

    Cheers zip,

Have you tried licking the back of the strap where the two electrodes are to make sure it's getting a good strong beat?

    Hey,

Ya,I tried that,it stoped working when I was out on the bike so I took it the battery was gone,my brother was home for few days so I clipped his hr monitor onto my strap and it worked sound,I replaced the battery today and found I had this prob,it's a bit of a pain,I'll mess around with it now again and see what the story is with it,when you hit rescan it won't come up hr found but tonight at the spinning class it paired it's self with someone's hr that was there,so it must be the hr and nota prob with the 800,

    Cheer Noel,

i had to replace a garmin hr strap last year - it looked like water or moisture had gotten in through the battery opening and started to rust. It was replaced under warranty. It did funny things before it completely died, like gave a consistent reading of 238 bpm.

Had same problem recently Zip (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056830461) and replaced it with a Polar HR monitor that I picked up in Cyclesuperstore for slightly less that €20. They are fully compatible with Garmin unit. Apparently Polar is better in that they are the ones used in the medical industry so maybe slightly more accurate. The strap is similar to the premium Garmin one and is fairly comfy. You will be able to attach the old Garmin sensor unit to the new Polar strap so all that is needed is the strap(pitch of button holes is exact same). Give me a buzz if you've anymore Qs.

    Hey,

    Thanks for reply's,
My prob is not the strap as I used my brothers hr monitor on my strap and it worked perfect,my prob is with the hr unit that clips onto the strap,I did not get a chance today to ring the but I hope to ring them tomorrow and see what they say,
