    Hi all,

For the past few years I've been bringing the family on 2 week camp site holidays to France, you know the sort, load up the car, hop on the ferry, drive 6/7 hours, have a great time, fill the boot with wine and the roof box with the laundry and head home but this year for a number of different reasons we want to hop on a plane to the sun for 7 to 10 days of an all inclusive lazy beach type holiday where the parents can chill out, the kids can have fun in the pool/leisure facilities of the hotel/apartment complex and we don't even have to think about where we eat or drink as it will all be included.

We're targetting August 8th or so as our outbound departure date from Dublin. We don't really care where we go as we're not going to sample the local culture etc. All we want is sun, fun, food and drink. (At least I'm being honest - we've done the "experience the local culture" bit many times in the past) and whilst we want to keep the total cost as low as possible we're more interested in value for money i.e. we would prefer to spend a little extra on a really good 4 star or (exceptional value) 5 star location in terms of facilities and food rather than 'save' a few quid and end up in a mediocre 3 star place which we regret.

My wife and I did a two week all inclusive holiday in Tunisia years ago and enjoyed it greatly. After a week the whole full board thing got a bit boring and we ended up going out a few nights for something different but with kids in tow I'm sure we'd enjoy 10 days of pure full board sun holiday.

I know I can go into a travel agent and/or look up the usual holiday websites but I'm really hoping, as a long time addicted Boardsie, that my fellow boardsies can point me in the direction of either 1) seriously good value options, 2) places they have been to themselves which they'd recommend and/or 3) websites which specialise in all inclusive packages other than the "usual" sites which pop up when you Google package holidays.

    Over to you fellow Boardsies.

    Cheers,

    Ben

The canaries would fit the bill, but the eastern Algarve offers better value

Gloria Palace Amadores thalasso & hotel, Gran Canaria. Stayed all-inclusive and suited us, teens, and 70 yr old parents :)

Went here for 2 years running 2009 and 2010 both times all inclusive and we really enjoyed ourselves, Great for adults and kids, real family friendly. Arranged all bookings and flights ourselves.
1st year booked direct with hotel early in the year with discounts, 2nd time booked hotel with Travel Republic.
Cala D'or is very family friendly.

We went to 2 4-star all-inc places last year. Previously we had done self catering, hire a car and drive to the beach, but with a 2 year old we wanted non cooking and walk to the beach. First was Hotel Titanic in Antalya, Turkey. Food second to none. Beach was good but we prefer turquoise. Second was Iberostar Alcudia with Thomas Cook. Food was good but not as good as the previous hotel. Beach was fantastic for the little fellow. Very shallow and cheery with white sand. If you want to go for a swim far out it was a bit of a trudge. Both packages were in the 2-2.5K bracket if I remember correctly. A price we'd normally baulk at, but both times we spent less than €100 during the rest of the week and it's so nice not having to cook and having such a fantastic range of foods you normally would never eat. Kids entertainment afterwards in both places a plus.Turkey is better value and great food but the beaches are a little less picture postcard. Balearic Islands have great beaches. But if you want to blow the budget head to the Costa Smeralda in Sardinia.
