loosing/burning coolant

    car was overheating recently so i pulled in and coolant was gone .... topped her up and found leak from radiator .... replaced radiator (with a new one, not scrap yard) .... still loosing/burning coolant but no visible leak

    no froth/suds in the oil

    You'd need to have a pressure test and combustion leak(sniff) test done to find the fault if it isn't obvious.

    Driving with a coolant leak will still cause engine damage over time even if you are topping up the level.

    took out thermostat and tested it with boiling water, only opening intermittently

    replaced (with genuine part) and flushed out old coolant which contained a degree of sludge
