So my fiance and I just found out (thanks to a post on boards) that the venue we'd put a deposit on for our wedding next year, Tailor's Hall, is not being run as a venue anymore, and any bookings that they've agreed to won't stand.

Tailor's Hall Events, the company that deals with bookings, is being wound up. An Taisce didn't want to get word out, for whatever reason. Allegedly this notification process is 'happening soon'.

I only post this so anyone affected won't waste any time thinking everything's sorted venue-wise. Get on to An Taisce for more info.

That's a real shame. Did they say why the venue won't be allowed to hold events? (Sounds like a licencing issue to me).

And are you able to get your money back??

Deposit coming, I've been told. Nothing official from An Taisce as yet, indeed if not for Boards I'd be sending invites off to the printers this weekend...

My understanding is that it was a case of Tailor's Hall Events running in the red, so it makes sense from a commercial perspective.

That's a shame it had a certain charm but could have been better promoted!

Was it from one of my posts in my 'Wedding Venue' thread that you found out? I hope I wasn't the bearer of bad news! My fiancée and I were due to view the place in late December but out of the blue our contact emailed back that he'd unfortunately just been told he was being let go and apologised to us for the inconvenience. Uh, what a horrible email to have to send and not much fun to read, poor man, felt really sorry for him! Hope you get sorted with somewhere new soon.
