in a pickle. Im looking for a Part-time job in my qualified field of work for ages.

I had an interview with "place 2" this morning, then got offered a job in "place 1" after the interview.

The interview in place 2 went well, and they seemed keen. its a permanent job with morning hours, perfect, except, they're only offering minimum wage for a qualified job.
I got the phonecall off place 1 offering more money, but less hours, permanent job, however, double hours during school holidays etc.

Overall I like place 1 the best, staff are lovely etc. However, Working the fewer hours on more money, will still keep my yearly wage down compared to place2. I am looking to get mortgage with my BF next year, ( I know my salary wont be much towards it anyway) But which one would you take for this reason? (If I was offered the interview one presumably)

    Thanks x

I was in that situation too and it was very hard to choose. Its completely up to yourself, you should go with whatever one you like the most. The fewer amount of hours might have an advantage because of school.
I am in college and i'm working a job that wants me to work so much that it is effecting my studying. I don't even like the job and went for it because it was offering more money and hours but I regret that now!!!!
A job is done to make money but its not worth it if you are not happy!

I'd go for job 1 personally

Are you still at school and is that why you get extra hours during holidays?
The mention of school and getting a mortgage is confusing me.

I'm guessing you're in your 20s, so the old motto comes to mind:

"Your twenties are for learning, your thirties are for earning"

Go with the one that offers the better career prospects (or which offers you more valuable experience that you can take elsewhere for more money). Where you will be in 5-10 years' time is much more important than your salary over the next couple of years.

If you're older and are just doing it for the money, then a balance of money and conditions is more important in that case.

neither job look like they will give me much room for progression. Neither job are using my qualification to it's potential either, however, I accepted Place 1 today with the nice staff.
More money per hour, but less hours, so overall less money. However, they seem much nicer, accommodating and want my input into the running of the place, so maybe room to progress there. thanks :)
