    Hi all

I was wondering whether anyone knows of anywhere doing contemporary/modern style suits in the Cork or Munster area for our forthcoming wedding?

We are trying to avoid the traditional tails or Prince Edward styles and go for something a bit sharper and more casual. I've seen some styles that I like (eg Uomo), but does anyone know of anywhere offhand that hires this style suit for weddings?

Also, I known Debenhams do suit hire - has anyone used them?

Alternatively we could look into buying the suits, but this would take some research and I could see it being quite time-consuming and probably more expensive too.

    Thanks!

If buying, Tony's on marlborough street has good quality contemporary suits. These are suits you will be wearing for a good few years afterwards with a different tie or shirt. You get what you oay for here, these are not cheap suits. Tony in there has a fantastic eye for colour and fit. For smaller budget, suits.ie has a big showroom off the south link.

For hiring, try phoning Con Murphy on patrick street to see what they have. Avoid black tie, unless you want a suit that smells of sick.

    Thanks!

Used debenhams last year on Patrick street for plain black suits, white shirt and black ties. The cost for four was about 370 but this would have been the same for 5 as the offer is oay for 4 get 1 free. Found them fantastic to deal with there is an older man in there that would remind you of an old fashioned tailor so nice.the lads all went at different times when they were in town and that as no prob. Suits came in about 2 weeks before wedding and all fitted perfectly.
    Hope that helps.

I was in Blacktie in Limerick and Deignans on Monday and they both rented Morning Suits for weddings in different styles.

Now, Blacktie also sold suits which they had some stylish suits for €149 down from €179. Okay they're not exactly Italian knit or Wool suits but classy enough looking for a few wears at least. I'm thinking of picking up something like those suits.

Renting them is €110 and the Groom is free. I didn't enquire about the price of Traditional suits because I wasn't interested in even looking at them.

Thanks for your replies so far. I've been looking at the option of buying too, if the price is fair and the quality is not cheap looking.

Thinking of leaving the jackets altogether and just having shirts with waistcoats (it's a summer wedding). However, I want modern, skinny-fit waistcoats and the ones in the formalwear hire places all seem a little dated in shape and style.

Might have a look around a few shops and see what's available, but I wish the rental shops had more modern styles as the costs will add up if we have to buy 3 suits (even without jackets!).

I'll probably have a look in Debenhams, M&S and a few of the rental places. Also, highstreet shops like Zara, Topman and Next seem to have some suits and waistcoats in stock, but I'd wonder about the quality of them...Mightn't be up to scratch for a wedding. But worth a look hopefully!

For rental: look to the smaller towns. I'm going the morning tails route but we're getting the suits at approx €65 a piece by renting from a supplier local to our hotel rather than the €125+ a suit we were being quoted nearer home in Dublin.

Just looking at the rental prices above, i didn't realise they were so high.

Suits.ie won't be much more expensive than those rental prices, and you keep the suit. My husband got a suit there for someone elses wedding (he was best man) and he still uses that suit 6 years later. It's a lovely charcoal grey.
