Question on Wiring Loom Repair VW Sharan

Just a quick question, I have to do minor repair on the Wiring Loom at the place where the loom enters the rear passenger door, 3 small wires are severed and as a result the power window and door speaker aren't working, I have 15amp insulated connectors to do the job, but should I disconnect the Battery before I start, and if I do so will it affect the Radio, etc.

Or will leaving the Keys out of the ignition suffice?

I don't think I have the code for the radio?

Car is '05 VW Sharan 1.9tdi - seems to be a common issue with this model.

    Thanks

You could check to see if there is any power coming to any of the cut wires when the key is out of ignition if you have a multimeter.
If there is power coming with ignition off, you could pull the fuses for those circuits so that you preserve the radio code.

if u pair the rite wires together ther is no need to disconnect anything , all your doing is joining the wires in the loom!

But if going to or coming from a delicate control unit for example, any sparking or unintentional earthing of a wire against the door could destroy a module.
