following on from my 'how do I get from the Airport to the city centre' thread - can anyone recommend a nice hotel in the city centre, preferably close to the main shopping areas, so I can leave my bag there for the day before I head back to the airport for my return journey............min 4 star, thanks!

The Rutland Hotel- 4 star, at the top of Princes Street near all the shops, views of the castle, cool rooms- perfect!

2nd on Apex, nicest hotel I've been in, pricey though but we were there during the fringe festival

I only stayed round the corner from the Apex but I remember thinking it looked really nice when I was there

Apex Waterloo all the way...approx £70.00 - £90.00 per night.

Just back last week after ny break first time visiting, we stayed in the novotel Edinburgh city centre, about 10 min or less to princes street with all the shops or 5 min to grass market with bars and restaurants. Also has a pool, sauna and steam room. We will be back

Another vote for the Rutland. Great location, really nice rooms and friendly staff. Some lovely whiskys in the bar too.
