West African lions about to go extinct

A proper captive breeding project needs to be estaiblished for these Lions before they go the way of the Northern White Rhino, Rhim Gazelle and other species that are now functionally extinct. The outlook for most of the other mega-fauna populations in Central and West Africa is also grim with the few remaining populations of Giraffes, Elephants etc. all suffering enormous poaching, loss of habitat pressures :(.

West Africa really seems to be a bit of a black hole for conservation in general. There's constantly stories coming out about species on the verge of extinction there.

Here are LionAid's website and Facebook page for anyone interested in hearing more about the organisation:

    http://www.lionaid.org/

And here's a little bit of good news for the species. Very short, I'll see if I can find a more informative article.

Okay, this one isn't much longer but it's the best I can find.

There's actually a very short piece about it on the LionAid website in their news section as well.
