I am looking for an second counterweight for my Meade LXD75 mount. I have replaced the Meade SN 6" with a Skywatcher 200PDS and it heavier (but wonderful) and to operat properly I would need another weight.

Im not sure if you can find that exact same but as the only that matters is weight and diameter of the inside hole I would lookup for usual outlets and check the dimension/weights. Ebay has some as well, again not this exact model.

A Rube Goldberg solution is to check your local fitness shop for their weights, you may find some free weights that have a hole that's close enough to the LXD-75 shaft, and to be heavy enough that it could be a direct replacement. A little drilling and tapping and a thumbscrew later, you've a solution.

Another solution that may be better overall (and the one that I followed) is to get one of these:

    Extension bar.

How much heavier is the new ota then the previous? Counterweights seem expensive and will obviously be very expensive to ship also, as previously mentioned an extension bar may be the cheapest solution

    otherwise 4.5kg counterweight:

A last resort would be to make one, there are many inventive ways on could achieve this, even casting one from a concrete mould would do for eg or

I got the Skywatcher (OTA only) from Ktec telescopes in Dublin. I contacted them today and the guy I dealt wth can get me one (5KG) for much less (price €45) than anything I can see on line. I had almost bought the Skywatcher tube from UK when I saw Ktec site and to be honest their prices are extremely good - got to use the the Skywatcher 200PDS lastnight and tonight - it is fabulous.
    The Ktec link is http://www.ktectelescopes.ie/
