Hey dudes, what analog joysticks do ye use (if any) for your PC needs (ye know what I mean :)

I have the X-Arcade which I love, but the damn thing is very heavy to be lugging around all of the time.

I was thinking of making a couple of these:

    What ye think?

    That's a digital joystick.

There are a few of these controller-USB converters out there based on AVR/PIC or whatever microcontroller a developer chooses. This guy sells AVR based ones http://www.faiscaefumaca.com.br/ , the source code is also available I think if you want to build your own.

Nice enough project to learn microcontroller programming on as well. I'm currently working on one to use my Saturn controller with a supergun and another as a cheap Ipac replacement .

Yeah, only copped that after I posted ( about the x-arcade  )

Thanks for the linky, those little feckers are expensive enough aren't they. Prop cost me the bones of 50 quid for two of them.

Here's another site I came across which sells similar adapters:

Best of luck with the Saturn adapter, hows it going for you?

I've the saturn and 6 button megadrive working, now adding snes and playstation controllers to it :)

Only running on breadboard at the moment so still need to design a pcb for it, its all part of a larger project to build a decent supergun.

Sounds like a great project to get into.

Haven't soldered since my college days, sounds like an excuse to get my hands dirty again and start spending time on these kind of projects again.

That's the thing I love about retro, you think the C64,Atari,Saturn is dead (not in our eyes, of course) and yet there is ways to still use the original hardware and connect it up to a Windows 8 PC :)
