I have heard some reports from the Las Vegas technologly show about Ultra HD being the next new development for general uptake. There are test transmissions on 10 East which are being resolved on my F15 receiver, very sharp pictures. Full details here on Satellites UK.

These are still going on 11305 H new symbol rate 30000 on 10 East. Four separate channels which if fitted together make a complete picture.

Now there is this feed on 16 East.

    Frequency: 11658 - Pol: V - SR: 43200 - FEC: -

    Category: Sport - Football

    Transmitted in: MPEG-4

    Comments: EPL(muxx, 4 chls,s2,Ultrahdtv)

Channel names 4K Service 1 (UL) 4K Service 2 (LL) 4K Service 3 (UR) and 4K Service 4 (LR) with UL standing for Upper Left, LL Lower Left etc. Stoke West Ham game audio only on UL, all sorts of mixed up colours on video on F15 receiver.

Are you resolving the 4 channels to 1 display?
If you are, how are you sending the full image to your display?(Because I want to give it a try too :D )
As I understand it, these are 4 1920x1080 channels with each 1 channel displaying 1 quarter of a 4k image and as such need to be muxed to display as a single image?
So as it stands without a 4k UHD display and a compatible mux/receiver/graphics card you are limited by your displays maximum resolution and the scaling capability of whichever method you are using?
So without 4k compatible gear are you not limited to a 1080 image anyway?(Or perhaps 1220? Unless you have 4K gear of course?)

Yes, all of that is true, I'm just seeing 4 separate channels at 1080. It's just the novelty value at present.

The equipment is on the market and I imagine prices will come down over time.
