Buying a new bike - Biketowork - Any recommendations?

Hi, sorry I know people are always asking what road bike to buy? But I haven't a clue what to go for. I will be buying a new bike through the biketowork.ie scheme. I would like to get a 10s cassette on the bike as my last one had a 9s! I'd also like it to not be white, as keeping the last one clean was a bit of a mare. My main goal for the bike will be to train for and complete Gael force west in August. I already have a brand new set of gator skin tyres at home and have my own pedals and cycling shoes! In or around €1000 is my budget. Hoping to get the best value possible.

    I'd really appreciate any advice.

    Thanks

It depends how the bike shops put it through their books. I got a €1400 bike through the ctws, it went through as two transactions.

Shops seem to be reluctant to discount of you are going through one of the schemes as they're already discounting - they don't actually receive the full €1000 more like €900.

If your company allows it you can always pay for the bike yourself up front and they can reimburse you. In this way you can keep the fact that its a BTW bike from the shop. I bought a new bike recently and was able to get 50-100 off by not mentioning the list price of the bikes I looked at by saying it wasn't going through BTW.

I was looking at hybrids so not able to recommend anything to you on the road bike side. There where some good prices on felt road bikes in eurocycles in swords.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for the reply, but unfortunately there is no one out HR boss would allow it! Ill have to buy it from a shop joined up with www.biketowork.ie

The shop i am thinking of buying from carries the following brands: giant, trek, kellys, claud butler, paginini, felt & time

Would the posters here rule out any of these brands? Or is there a particular make that is a cut above the rest?

I had a Claude Butler Vicenza before and i liked it.

What would ye go for between a Giant Defy 2 or a Kelly's ARC 3.0?

    http://kellysbike.com/int/bikes-2013/road/arc-3-0

Is there any 10 Speed Trek Road bike with Tiagra groupset available for under €1000?
