Car for my wife

    Hi Folks,

Just looking for advice on this motor that Im looking at for my wife:
    http://www.kennygalway.ie/car-search.html?car=53958_1512224&HP=6&HPP=6&PN=&SF=&SA=&SV%28F5424%29=50010&SV%28F5425%29=&SV%28F5428from%29=2008

She's changing from a 1.6 05 Focus to this as she wants something small. Just wondering really if its a fair price? Being offered 4,000 of a trade in on the focus which has 120,000 miles on the clock.

    €4k trade-in for a 7yr going on 8yr old Focus 1.6 isn't shabby tbh.

The real issue is whether the Fiesta is worth €3500 over what you have. If she likes it, you can afford it, and the car is genuine, then it depends on how long you keep it tbh. If you kept it 3 yrs, that's €1200/yr, which isn't bad.

If you can haggle any better price - all the better too.

    All my 0.02.

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

yeah nothing wrong with 4 grand to come 3 years!fiestas are bulletproof in fairness and she will have considerable savings coming from a 1.6 litre focus i.e tax, petrol etc! that one looks well in red,if she likes it and its what she wants then you cant go too far wrong !

I agree, very misleading thread title. Still, it would have been worse if he'd mentioned the undercarriage needing cleaning.

Forget what they are giving her for the Focus, how much cash do they want with the Focus for the Fiesta? That is all that matters when you have a trade-in. Garages can smudge trade-in prices to make them look generous but they just add it back onto the price of the car they are selling you.

Also to put things into prespective, my sister bought a 2008 Ford Fiesta like that with less mileage 2 years ago cash, from a Ford dealer with 6 months warranty. I think a sticker price of €7500 is very hopeful from them on a Fiesta that is now 5 years old.

The looks like a nice farmers fiesta. Big massive towbar adds to the look. :D

That engine is been phased out for the newer ecoboost engine. Might affect the resale later on.

I don't think a buyer looking for an 07 ish fiesta in a few years will be bothered by what engine the 2013 model had.

It's not a bad cost to change price to be fair. I'd still shop around and see if you can do better. A tow bar on a small petrol car would concern me though.
