Anyone know how you apply to Eason's

There's a new Eason's opening up near me in the "Spring" they say (not very specific) and I would LOVE to work in a bookshop so I'm trying to apply. I've emailed their main address twice asking how to apply, and my other nearest branch once, I've also tried looking for the main office in the shopping centre to ask there (turns out the shopping centre doesn't have an office...) and emailed them asking if they knew.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks! :)

from what I can see on their website...
    Employment Opportunities
From time to time, part-time and full-time employment opportunities become available at all our shops. For further information contact the shop closest to you.

 Kind of strange if there is no shop near you yet! Good luck!

Well I emailed the one closest hoping for a response from them but got nothing. :/

Would it be nuts to just hand my CV in there and say its for the new one here?

they may not have started hiring yet. keep an eye in their webiste and jobs websites, eg Irish Jobs/Jobs.ie. Can you find an e-mail/number for HR on their website?

If you go to "contact us" they have a form to fill in with your query, thats the one I've tried twice, and then the shop locator has individual email addresses, which I tried one of :)

You're probably right but I wanted to get my C.V in early if possible, it might give me a better chance :)

If you want a job in Easons, the best way in is to know someone in there already. They tend to highly consider applicants who have a recommendation from existing staff.
Failing that, phone up O'Connell Street and ask for the name of the HR manager. Then do up your CV, dress smartly, go into O'Connell street and ask at the information desk to speak to the HR manager. If you don't have any luck actually getting to speak to the HR manager in person, charm the information desk staff, tell them why you would love to work for Easons and that you want to leave your CV for the HR manager. If the info desk staff like you and mention this when passing on the CV it won't be ignored. Make sure the envelope is addressed to the HR manager and include a cover letter stating your preference for X branch, the hours you are available and also flatter them by saying how much you want to work there and how much you love books and customer service!

Easons is very much old school - many of the staff have been there years. They have a culture of pride in the institution and like to hire people who genuinely enjoy dealing with the public and who genuinely have an enthusiasm for books/stationery etc. So showing that will go a long way.

There is no longer a HR manager in O'Connell Street, they now work from the head office in St. Margarets. There would be little point handing it in to O'Connell Street as they receive 10+ CV's daily and most are not hiring this time of year.

For the the new store (not sure where it is) you are better off trying to get in touch with someone in head office to ask about recruitment for an as yet unopened branch.

Well then send it to St Margarets AND give it in in person - that way you can be sure it will get to head office and possibly will have a note of compliment on it. Having worked there all through my teens and college many of the people I worked with are still there. I know that if someone really nice and bubbly comes in with a CV, gives a good impression they are told to note this on the CV before sending it off to HR. So if you go in and impress in some way, then if the staff on duty are doing what they are supposed to do, they should make a little note to this effect on the CV. Something along the lines of 'very pleasant personality, well presented' or 'very mannerly, seems enthusiastic'. If you don't make an impression or a bad impression they write nothing on it. Well at least that's what my friend who is a manager there reckons anyway.

I'm nowhere near Dublin :P At the other side of the country in fact! So either waiting until the open or calling up HR in Dublin is probably the best ways to go? Aaaaargh, darn recession making it so hard to get work! >.<

Many Eason stores are franchise operations. There is a new one about to open in Fermoy. Co. Cork, this is being developed by a local existing newsagent/bookseller in the town but will open under the Eason banner.. I Hope that is of help to you?

Hmmm... this one isn't mentioned on their site, so perhaps you're right! :O Didn't think about that to be honest! Thank you!

You should just go into McLoughneys with a CV as I think they have taken Easons as a franchise.
