choosing a car? Help

I was going to travel to the UK to buy a car but after searching here I have decided that there may be some good value here after all.

I want a diesel car as I do some long distance travel and I would want it somewhat economical, it has to be comfortable on the inside and it has to be a saloon or big hatchback. My budget is 15k.

I have been looking at the Avensis, Passat (140 BHP), Mazda 6, Insignia and Accord. I don't know that much about cars so any help would be appreciated.

Out of your list, my personal choice is Accord and Mazda 6, assuming the 6 is post '07. The Insignia is gaining a bit of a rep for problems and the Passat has some engine issues.

What mileage do you actually do per day/week? Diesel's not all its cracked up to be anymore.
