Forcing dual mono output

Apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I'm in hospital at the moment and the headphone input on my laptop is knackered and only sends signal to the right headphone. Because of the constant beeping and activity, even at full volume is can be difficult to hear a lot of dialogue from just one ear and I am sharing a room so I don't want to annoy the other guy!

I am not sure if I am barking up the wrong tree - does the broken input mean it is impossible to get sound from both speakers? The only solution I can think of is to try force dual mono output.

I am using a Toshiba Satellite running Windows 7 with a Realtek soundcard and I can't for the life of me figure out how to make it output in dual mono as opposed to stereo (not sure if I'm using the right terminology but I am looking for R+R as opposed to L+R if that makes any sense!).

    Any advice would be appreciated!
