    Hi all,

My other half has had this warning pop up on the dash. I've checked the tyres and the pressures and there seems to be no issues.

Can someone tell me how to reset this? I've pumped the tyres and want to see if it comes back on once reset.

Is there anything else that could set this off?

    Its a 2006 318i E90.

    Thanks,

    Z

A pressure sensor in the valve may be faulty.

Unless this is a new BMW with some new technology I am certain that the pressure warning system works by tracking rotation of the wheel as opposed to any pressure sensor in the valve.

You should be able to reset the sensor from the idrive if you have one?

Looks like 5 series E60 (06) onwards, or 3 series E90 onwards have them

The iDrive is the onboard computer system right? (My knowledge of BMW's is not the best as you can tell!)

    Doesn't have the iDrive though - 99.9% sure :)

Righto, first off it should be in the manual anyway, but..

You have to reset it using the OBC menu (in the dash) and the stalk on the steering wheel.

Find tyre monitor in the OBC menu
    scroll to reset
Keep end of stalk pressed for 5 secs
    A tick appears beside reset
Drive off and monitor will initialise on rotation of wheels
If you stop initialisation resumes on moving again
    No feedback on completion

Direct tyre pressure monitoring is a requirement for the US market, where the actual pressure is measured in the wheel and transmitted to some receiver in the car.

Over here (in the E90 anyway) the rotation speed is measured by the ABS sensors and a deviation in one wheel from the other three activates the warning, not a great system as if all wheels are soft the system may not alert you, you also need to calibrate each time you pump a wheel or change tyres.

If is like the E46 model, if you have changed tyres recently or pumped them up you will need to reset it. There was a how to on the pillar on the drivers side of mine. It was to hold the button with that symbol for several seconds, which was located on the center console.

OP, there are two ways of resetting the Tyre Pressure Monitoring system on the E90. I'm only familiar with resetting it through the iDrive as that is what I have.

Here is how to do it on the non iDrive e90:

If the warning reappears after a short time then it is possible that you have a slow puncture.
